The q-reversal effect observed by Connerade is now well established in the single-photon spectroscopy of both atoms (Connerade et al (1985)) and molecules (Ashfold et al (1986)). To date, it does not seem to have been observed in REMPI, but it can be seen in the results of a recent numerical study of a REMPI spectrum by Rahman-Attia et al (1986)). The authors formulate an explicit theory for the q reversals of REMPI, explaining both the origin of the effect and its connection with the single-photon case.
