Terminal Fe I N 2 and Fe II ⋅⋅⋅HC Interactions Supported by Tris(phosphino)silyl Ligands

Terminal Fe I N 2 and Fe II ⋅⋅⋅HC Interactions Supported by Tris(phosphino)silyl Ligands Taking hold: Monoanionic tris(phosphino)silyl ligands ((SiPR3)=((2‐R2PC6H4)3Si)−) stabilize unusual five‐coordinate FeI complexes. The silane (SiPPh3)H reacts with mesityliron(II) to give ((SiPPh3)FeIIMes), which displays a CH agostic interaction. Treatment with HCl and reduction affords the terminally bonded FeIN2 complex ((SiPPh3)FeN2) (see scheme; structures show only donor atoms of (SiPPh3)), which yields hydrazine under protolytic conditions. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Angewandte Chemie International Edition Wiley

Abstract

Taking hold: Monoanionic tris(phosphino)silyl ligands ((SiPR3)=((2‐R2PC6H4)3Si)−) stabilize unusual five‐coordinate FeI complexes.
