Antiplatelet Drugs Antiplatelet therapy has become a useful means of preventing acute thromboembolic artery occlusions in cardiovascular diseases. The rationale for this is an enhanced activity of circulating platelets and release of platelet-derived vasoactive mediators, probably due to endothelial dysfunction.
