The occurrence of chlorinated bis-(propyl)ethers in the Elbe River and tributaries

The occurrence of chlorinated bis-(propyl)ethers in the Elbe River and tributaries KURZE Naturwissenschaften 82, 80-83 (1995) ITTEILUNGEN lar ions in the case of methane and very weak (M+18) + ions for C14BPE in the case of ammonia. Methane-negative ion chemical ionization mass spectra were obtained for C14BPE and dichloropropyltrichlorohexylethers. Molecular ions M were not observed, but interestingly, significant signals derived from the molecular ion occurred at m/z = M+C1 and m/z = M - C 1 for all compounds except bis-(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl)ether, which only produced the (M + C1)- ion cluster. The elemental composition of the fragment ions of each compound was determined by accurate mass measurement (GC/high-resolution MS) at 10000 mass resolution.
