In memoriam: Reimund Stadler, Editor of Polymer Bulletin Polymer Bulletin 41, 129–130 (1998) Polymer Bulletin S p r i nge r - V e r l a g 1998 In memoriam: Reimund Stadler, Editor of Polymer Bulletin On June 14, Professor Reimund Stadler passed away at the age of 41, at the peak of his career. We, his colleagues, his students and friends, are shocked by his untimely death. Reimund was born in Stühlingen, in the Black Forest, and to complete the circle, he has been laid to rest there. He studied chemistry in Freiburg, with a fellowship of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, and he wrote his PhD thesis in the group of Wolfram Gronski on “Viscoelasticity and stress-in- duced crystallization in thermoplastic elastomers”. From 1984 onward, he took part, with enthu- siasm and success, in our joint project to develop a polymer science group at the Universidade Federal in Porto Alegre (Brasil). As a university assistant in my group at the Freiburg Institute for Macromolecular Chemistry, he created the scientific basis for his Habilitation and the venia legendi, in 1988.
