Some observations on the advantages and implementation issues of just-in-time production systemsJournal of Operations Management, 3
The justintime JIT purchasing system has been demonstrated as amechanism to reduce inventory carrying cost and improve the quality ofincoming materials. One major limitation of the JIT purchasing system isthat it demands a major change in peoples attitudes and work habits. While leading an organisation towards the complete implementation of aJIT system, management must have creative and innovative ideas to ensurecooperation of all concerned. A feasibility study of implementing a JITpurchasing system conducted in a large manufacturing plant is reported.
