. art libraries , 31/2 2006 journal Pevsner developed the concept for a series of Pevsner architectural guides. New Haven: architectural guides based on Dehio's five-volume Yale University Press Handbuch derdeutschen Kunstdenkmaler. H e talked about the idea with his friend Allen Lane, the Sir Nikolaus Pevsner and others director of Penguin Books, proposing a similar layout and brevity of entries. Lane was taken with A complete list of titles and ordering the concept, and thus began their long and fruitful relationship. Pevsner started work on the project in information for volumes in the 1947, and the first of the books (on Cornwall) was Buildings of England, City guides and published in 1951. Th e final volume (on related series is given on the Yale Staffordshire) appeared in 1974.
