Designs Maurice Kendall, who died in 1983, first published the beginnings Partially Balanced Incomplete Block Designs of this material in 1943. The first edition of the three-volume Additional Topics in Block Designs version, which probably is familiar to many statisticians, was pub- lished in 1958, and a fourth edition of Volume 1 appeared in 1977. Howard M. Proskin Now the current authors have revised the material “word by word” according to the jacket, which also states that terminology and proofs have been “modernized.” In addition, new examples and exercises have been added. Matrices for Statistics, by M. J. R.
