If you're planning a tour of homes, send out a series of three postcards — three weeks, two weeks and one week prior to the event — to persons who have signed up for the tours, persons you hope will do so and members of a mailing list of your choosing.On the postcards you send three weeks out, mention the event and explain that those who bring the card back to the event can place it in a drawing for a prize. Use the second set of postcards to point out some interesting features about the homes participants will be touring.Use the final postcard to offer any last‐minute instructions — where to park, when to arrive — and to thank your sponsor(s).Why send the postcards? They build excitement, help get more participants signed up, highlight key features of your upcoming tour, and offer another opportunity to thank everyone involved.
