Wayne F. Cascio, Guest Editor University of Colorado-Denver, USA It is a great pleasure to present this showcase of developments in applied psychology in America. This special issue of Applied Psychology: An International Review contains assessments by content experts of theory development, together with current research and practice in seven representative areas of applied psychology. The list of areas within applied psychology is not meant to be exhaustive; however, the papers that comprise this volume do provide an overview of the richness and vitality of the field. Moreover, they illustrate the important role that psychology can play in the betterment of human welfare as we move into the 21st century. Although the papers describe developments in America, much of the information in them may generalise to cultures outside America. This work may have heuristic value to the extent that it stimulates research among investigators in the international community of scholars on the generalisability of findings across cultures. This would be the greatest outcome of all. Titles of papers, authors. and their affiliations are as follows: âEmerging trends and vexing issues in industrial and organisational psychologyâ by Marvin D. Dunnette of the University of Minnesota. âThe Millennium for Personality
