A steam sterilizable oxygen electrode for fermentor use is described. The electrode has a silver cathode, lead anode, phosphate electrolyte, and a membrane of a fluorinated ethylene‐propylene copolymer film (FEP.). The electrode has a linear response to partial pressure of oxygen from 1.5 × 10−2 to 103 mm Hg.
