Staged approach of percolation processes

Staged approach of percolation processes Sorption processes in a perfectly mixed reactor are analyzed by using two models: The equilibrium model and a kinetic model which considers the effect of the external mass transfer resistance. In both cases, a general non‐linear equilibrium isotherm is considered. The influence of the different model parameters on the response of the perfectly mixed sorber and their effect on a design parameter (the breakthrough time) are discussed. A criterium is derived in order to predict when the equilibrium model is valid. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Aiche Journal Wiley

Abstract

Sorption processes in a perfectly mixed reactor are analyzed by using two models: The equilibrium model and a kinetic model which considers the effect of the external mass transfer resistance. In both cases, a general non‐linear equilibrium isotherm is considered. The influence of the different model parameters on the response of the perfectly mixed sorber and their effect on a design parameter (the breakthrough time) are discussed. A criterium is derived in order to predict when the equilibrium model is valid.
