Seasonal variations in the concentrations of humic substances in a soft‐water lake1

Seasonal variations in the concentrations of humic substances in a soft‐water lake1 Concentrations of humic substances (HS) were measured in Esthwaite Water, England, a soft‐water lake with annual thermal stratification and deep‐water anoxia. Between June 1980 and December 1981 the concentrations of HS in the epilimnion ranged from about 1.5 mg · liter−1 in summer to about 3 mg · liter−1 in autumn. In the anoxic hypolimnion the concentration of HS increased during summer to maximum values of >3 mg · liter−1. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Limnology and Oceanography Wiley
