Summary The reproductive biology and sexual pattern of Serranus scriba (Linnaeus, 1758) were examined in the Trogir Bay area (middle‐eastern Adriatic) from June 2001 to May 2002. The total length (TL) of all observed specimens ranged from 7.1 to 20.0 cm; 50% of the population of this species sexually matured at 9.3 cm TL. Spawning took place from May to August, with a peak in June and July. Positive allometry was established in the length–weight relationship (b = 3.15).
