INTRODUCTIONSerbia is one of the European countries with the highest incidence and mortality of cervical cancer over the last decade: Every year, there are about 1300 new cases and around 500 deaths from cervical cancer (Ilic & Ilic, 2018; International Agency for Research on Cancer, 2021). In 2013, Serbia began implementing an organised screening programme for cervical cancer (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, 2013).Cervical cancer is the fourth most frequent type of cancer among new cancer cases (accounting for 5.3% of all new cancer cases) and the sixth most common cause of cancer deaths (accounting for 4.7% of all cancer deaths) among women in Serbia in 2019 (Institute of Public Health of Serbia “Dr Milan Jovanović Batut”, 2021). Cervical cancer is the most frequent gynaecological cancer in Serbia and also ranked first among all cancers in women aged 25–34 years in Serbia in 2019 (Institute of Public Health of Serbia “Dr Milan Jovanović Batut”, 2021).Approximately 30 in every 100,000 women develop cervical cancer every year in Serbia (Institute of Public Health of Serbia “Dr Milan Jovanović Batut”, 2021; International Agency for Research on Cancer, 2021).
