Prediction of liquid circulation velocity in airlift reactors with biological media A method is developed and demonstrated for the prediction of liquid circulation velocity in airlift bioreactors operating with pseudoplastic fluids, including mould suspensions. The method is based on a combination of a recently developed energy balance over airlift loops with analytical expressions for shear stress in turbulent or laminar flow of non‐Newtonian fluids. Abstract
