INTRODUCTIONThe Internet provides a valuable environment for developing a variety of applications for educational purposes. Meanwhile, experimental work is essential to the education of engineering students . Therefore, the online education system for the engineering education can provide a convenient and multifunctional platform for students and teachers. Then, a new form of learning, called blended learning, were generated. The hand‐on experiment was done directed by teachers in the laboratory, and online learning was integrated to help students review or do homework after class. To implement this advanced learning form, a specified online learning system was developed, and has been applied in our water hydraulic laboratory.Aiming to develop a system for students’ online experiment education and teachers’ laboratory management, we develop a PHP‐based collaborative education and management system named as WathyLab. The experiment learning about the field of water hydraulic is hosted on the Apache server using PHP. Every education courseware data about the experiments, user access, and other relevant information like experiment data is stored within the MySQL database.The WathyLab system includes many essential characteristics, and teamwork is one of the most important elements.
