Oxidative Stress Imaging In article number 1800310, Nan Ma, Ulrike Alexiev, and co-workers develop a sensitive and reproducible fluorescence lifetime based imaging assay (FLIM-ROX) for reactive oxygen species (ROS) detection that allows the investigation of low cellular stress levels as a consequence of ROS production. Using FLIM-ROX, the nanotoxicity of subcytotoxic amounts of nanoparticles is demonstrated by linking cellular adverse effects, such as cellular morphology changes, elevated senescence, and DNA damage, to low-level oxidative stress.
