Division) Creative Human Resource Planning and Applications—A Strategic Approach by Elmer Burack. Prentice Hall, &dquo; According to Burack, this book is written for practising managers. However, it would be equally good at home as a reference text for students of Human Resource Management. The book aims to provide an integrated approach to the management of human resource issues. Burack takes a broad view of human resource planning and addresses such topics as succession planning, management development systems, career development, corporate culture, wellness? stress and ageing. Though Burack claims to provide an integrated approach to human resource planning, the book tends to be a bit fragmented at times. The chapters are not always well linked together despite Burack’s model which is supposedly an aid’ ‘ in presenting a ’holistic’ approach. Nevertheless, quite a lot ofthe material presented is of a practical nature, and could be utilised by human resource practitioners. Each chapter of Burack’s book discusses contemoorary issues and reports findings of relevant studies.
