Published by Blackwell Publishers, 108 Cowley Road, Oxford OX4 1JF, UK NOTES ON CONTRIBUTORS PHILIP WILBY is Senior Lecturer in Composition Studies at the University of Leeds. His choral piece, New World Dancing, will be premiered at the BBC Promenade Concerts later this year. In addition to his work as a composer, he has reconstructed a number of fragments by Mozart which were subsequently recorded on the Complete Mozart Edition for Philips. CHRISTOPHER WINTLE is Senior Lecturer in Music at King's College, London. His recent work has sought to integrate formalist traditions with modern hermeneutical ones rooted in psychology, psychoanalysis and new `rhetorical' models for post-eighteenth century music. His study, with Cliff Eisen, of Mozart's C Minor Fantasy for Piano (Journal of the Royal Musical Association) shows how such an enterprise builds on Hans Keller's preoccupation with `creative character'.
