Illustrated Manual of Ultrasonography in Obstetrics and Gynecology . By Mitsunao Kobayashi, M.D.,... physician may encounter. There are illustrations showing normal pelvic morphology to illustrations of benign cyst teratomas, illustrations demonstrating normal pregnancy t o twins with a total placenta previa. The illustrations are clear and distinct and show the condition in detail. The pictures can serve as an excellent reference for comparison of actual scans by the technician and physician. At the beginning of the book, Kobayashi states that t o better .appreciate important diagnostic principles all ultrasonograms are drawn, and indeed they are, very clearly. This may be a bit discouraging t o the technician or physician at times when less visual detail is obtained on the actual sonogram being compared. Along with many of the sonograms are cross-sectional schematic drawings of the anatomy and pathology of the structure being examined. These are well done and should be of considerable help, especially t o the technician, in understanding the sonographic echo patterns obtained in actual scans.
