At first sight, unusual NMR spectroscopic characteristics were puzzling and DFT calculations were performed to support the proposed structure (bottom: detail of 13C NMR and COSY spectra). In the center, the πC=C and σ*C–N natural bonding orbitals are highlighted because a significant hyperconjugation was predicted by the computational methods. In the background, a UV image of the Cygnus Loop nebula is shown (image credit with permission: NASA/JPL‐Caltech, PIA15415) as the photocyclization used for the synthesis employs the same type of radiation.
