The relevance of the research is determined by the fact that social work requires scientific methods that are aimed at understanding and interpreting life events and their impact on personal development. The purpose is to link the processes of empathy and reflection in the ability to a narrative in students. The analysis was carried out using theoretical and practical methods. The basis of the theoretical foundation was analysis, synthesis, generalization, comparison, and classification. The practical part consisted of a set of techniques aimed at studying the ability to a narrative, namely the method of V.V. Boyko “Diagnostics of the level of empathy,” method of A.V. Karpov “Diagnostics of reflection,” questionnaire of D.A. Leontiev, E.M. Lapteva, E.N. Osina, and A.G Salikhova “Differential type of reflection.” The obtained results were processed using the statistical Pearson correlation coefficient. The sample of participants consisted of 101 students, 72% of them were girls, 28% were boys. The results of the study demonstrate the presence of a positive relationship between the indicators of empathy and reflexivity, which has a beneficial effect on the ability of a narrative.
