Editorial We are pleased to announce in this issue a new tradition from henceforth in the International Journal of Social Welfare. Each year, one article will be highlighted as the journal's “Article of the Year” for its significance, originality, methodological rigor, and relevance to social work. Ake Bergmark as co‐Chief Editor, Noella Bickham as Managing Editor, and I will recommend to the journal's International Editorial Council (IEC) one article from each issue. The members of the IEC will score each article using a standardized rubric, and one article will be selected. We recognize the important efforts that are extended as authors develop their scholarly work for publication and we take great care in selecting only the strongest papers that are sent to the journal for review. Yet each year a few articles stand out as especially noteworthy and we would like to highlight these for our readership. The award‐winning article will be available as a free download from the IJSW website at http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ijsw.12232/full throughout 2018.In this issue I have the privilege of announcing the nominees for the 2017 IJSW Article of the Year and the winner.
