Development of structural analysis virtual modules for iPad application INTRODUCTIONStudies have been done on the application of modern technology in the field of civil engineering education. At Graz University of Technology in Austria, a study was conducted using multimedia and internet based applications, called e‐Learning, in higher education . The study showed that higher education is strongly influenced by modern technology and that educational institute should adapt to meet the current technological generation. Another study by Ebner confirmed the success of user‐centered game based learning applications for higher education . This study was conducted on 121 students during a Master's level Structural Concrete lecture. The purpose of Ebner's study was to gain insight into whether online games have a positive influence on the student's learning in higher education. The study revealed that it was necessary to create a motivating and enjoyable software application in order to maintain the student's involvement and that modern applications can be useful methods for teaching and education for civil engineering students at Master's level. Both of Ebner's studies show that modern teaching technologies greatly influence the student's learning in higher education.
