A versatile high frequency radio microcautery ABSTRACT. The paper describes a radio frequency microcautery operating at 27 MHz. Unusually high power is used to achieve a high rate of temperature rise in the tissue in order to leave fluid transporting vessels unblocked, e.g. aphid stylets. The power is adjustable down to levels appropriate to normal radio cautery applications and a timer is provided for single pulse operation.
