In this project, the punching process of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) is investigated numerically and experimentally. Punching presents a low cost and potentially high quality manufacturing technology for piercing, but has not been investigated sufficiently so far for CFRP. The project aims on the key mechanical processes from a damaging point of view. The goal of the project is to identify the principle influence parameters on the quality of the cutting face from a simulational and an experimental point of view. (© 2017 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
