Barney is associate Professor of english at the University at albany, SUny. he is the author of Plots of Enlightenment: Education and the Novel in Eighteenth-Century England (1999) and essays on topics including the Bildungsroman, early modern scatology, and the fiction of J. M. coetzee in the context of eighteenth-century British literature. his most recent publication, in Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture, is on biology and the sublime in the poetry of anne Finch. his current work focuses on medicine, aesthetics, and politics in eighteenth-century British letters. rbarney@ albany.edu StePhanie BolUk Stephanie Boluk is a Phd student in english literature at the University of Florida.
