Reardon's work leaves us with good ideas for future research. There is no English-language biography of Jomini, and an account of his life might be an excellent topic for a doctoral dissertation. An examination of Jomini's influence on Confederates such as P. G. T. Beauregard would be interesting. Reardon also leaves this reader wanting someone to write a historiographical essay examining the influence of Jomini's ideas on historians writing about the Civil War. Reardon begins this discussion.
