November 25, 2010: Italian students occupy the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Coliseum in protest against the education reforms proposed by Mariastella Gelmini, the Minister of Education for the Berlusconi administration. Pitched as a way to cope with the growing national deﬁ cit, the reform called for roughly €9 billion in cuts to the Italian education system and granted universities permission to set up foundations that could accept private funding.
