Contributors Bob Batchelor is an Assistant Professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Kent State University. He earned his doctor- ate in English Literature from the University of South Florida. He is the author or editor of ten books, including The 2000s and the four-volume American Pop: Popular Culture Decade by Decade, and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Popular Culture. Frederick Betz, Professor Emeritus of German, Southern Illinois Univer- sity, has been serving as President of the Sinclair Lewis Society since 2001. He has published editions, commentaries, articles, and reviews in the ar- eas of nineteenth- and twentieth-century German and American litera- ture, journalism, and culture. Stephen C. Brennan teaches American literature at Louisiana State Uni- versity in Shreveport. He has published essays on American literary natu- ralism in Dreiser Studies, American Literary Realism, Studies in American Fiction, and other journals and is currently working on a study of psy- chological themes in American naturalism. He is co-editor of Studies in American Naturalism. Robert M. Dowling is Associate Professor of English at Central Con- necticut State University.
