Innate Divisions and the Natural Hermeneutics of Plato and Zhuangzi

Innate Divisions and the Natural Hermeneutics of Plato and Zhuangzi This essay studies what I would call a natural hermeneutics represented by Plato and the Chinese Taoist philosopher Zhuangzi. I propose that both philosophers conceive of a hermeneutics that emphasizes the primacy of innate divisions or inborn patterns. The concept of natural hermeneutics, I suggest, points to a new methodological tool. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Philosophy East and West University of Hawai'I Press

Abstract

This essay studies what I would call a natural hermeneutics represented by Plato and the Chinese Taoist philosopher Zhuangzi. I propose that both philosophers conceive of a hermeneutics that emphasizes the primacy of innate divisions or inborn patterns. The concept of natural hermeneutics, I suggest, points to a new methodological tool.
