Abstract:

Comparisons of logos and dao often consist in understanding them as metaphysical principles underlying the processes that make up our world. This article provides an alternative using Heidegger's interpretations of logos. It is shown that the Daoists' ideas of dao compare well with Heidegger, and it is argued that a non-metaphysical interpretation is much closer to both Heidegger and Daoism. In the end it is argued that reinterpretations of classical notions such as offered here can provide a valuable resource to comparative philosophy.
