Bland Life, Blunt Poetry, and: Nothing to do with Crows SUN WENBO Two Poems bland life, blunt poetry Apples change genes, oranges change gen ders, words become absolutely tyrannical under the shadow o f -ism. I speak but say nothing; you oppose and oppose everyt hing. e p Th aradox of rhetoric leads me to the way of po etry, I travel valleys and gullies like a huge bird in the sky, o nly to see fruits become symbols. Too symbo lic, the toughness of apples, the brutality of oranges. To find gen tleness I have to clear away other words from the pile. I p lane off the snobby and sneaky ones, they’ve been trying to use the old aga inst . . . Or let me put it another way, they act as if they were au thorities, as if they were ministers, or even emperors, of w ords. e k Th ingdom of language is decadent. How have I tolera ted it for so long? I’d rather see chaos. I s ay chaos is good! When apples fly in the a ir oranges become shields against the -ism.
