COMME CHRON The University of California, Berkeley, will host a conference from 29 November to 2 December 2001 in celebration of the Verdi centenary. "Primal Scenes: Staging and Interpreting Verdi's Operas" will focus intensively on a small number of Verdi scenes using a wide range of critical approaches, with an emphasis on interactions between music and staging.
