REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR The ninety-ninth annual meeting of the Pacifi c Coast Branch, American Historical Association, took place at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, August 3–5, 2006. The History Department of Stanford University sponsored the meeting, and Becky Nicolaides, University of California, San Diego, and Pedro Castillo, University of California, Santa Cruz, co-chaired the pro- gram committee. The conference had 239 registered participants. The program featured fi fty different sessions, with an especially strong showing in community, urban, and suburban histories, post-World War II histories of the U.S. West, and Mexican history. Susan Groag Bell, senior scholar at the Institute for Research on Women and Gen- der at Stanford University, addressed the luncheon of the Western A ssociation of Women Historians on the topic of “Christine de Pizan (1364–1430) in Her Study.” At the annual banquet, President Al- bert Camarillo, Stanford University, gave the presidential address, which appeared in expanded form in the February 2007 issue of the Pacifi c Historical Review.
