We would like to remind our readers that the 116th Annual Meeting of the Texas State Historical Association will take place March 13, 2012, at the Omni Houston Hotel in Houston. Aside from the many sessions covering various aspects and eras of Texas history, we will have many special events at the meeting. Darlene Clark Hine of Northwestern University will deliver the keynote address at Texas Southern University. On Thursday evening, the Presidential Reception will welcome Watson Arnold as the 20122013 TSHA President. The Reception will be held at the offices of Torch Energy Advisors. On display at the offices will be the Torch Collection, reputed to be the world's largest Texana Collection, featuring 10,000 pieces, including artifacts, books, documents, maps, paintings and drawings. Om Friday, the Presidential Banquet will honor 20112012 President Merline Pitre and feature her presidential address. The Graduate Student Mixer is free to all graduate students who register.
