Abstract The agglomeration of Taiwanese electronics firms in Dongguan of southern China has attracted considerable attention from both academics and policy makers over the past decade. However, existing studies of the geographical concentration of Taiwanese electronics firms in Dongguan have primarily been based on qualitative analyses. Based on some firm-level statistics, the Ellison and Glaeser (EG) index has been calculated in this paper to explore quantitatively the agglomeration of Taiwanese electronics firms in Dongguan. I argue that the agglomeration of Taiwanese electronics firms in various towns of Dongguan have demonstrated a specific spatial pattern, which is, to some extent, related to their inter-firm supply linkages.
