Starting with anecdotes, one concerning Muslim wine-drinkers, another concerning Islamic art, and still another how Islam makes an Arab and South Asian speak to and understand each other, Ahmed then formulates and addresses six questions drawn from primary texts from the medieval time in the region stretching from the Balkans to Bengal.
