Original Russian Text Copyright C 2002 by Morachevskii. ˝˝˝˝˝˝˝˝˝˝ HISTORY OF CHEMISTRY AND CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY ˝˝˝˝˝˝˝˝˝˝˝ Vladimir Vladimirovich Skorchelletti (To the Centenary of His Birthday) Vladimir Vladimirovich Skorchelletti, a scientist and lecturer, made a major contribution to inves- tigations of corrosion and corrosion protection of metals and to improvement of teaching of theoretical electrochemistry and fundamentals of metal corrosion. For many years he was a member of the Editorial Board of Zhurnal Prikladnoi Khimii (Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry). V.V. Skorchelletti was born on May 17, 1902, in Odessa but lived in St. Petersburg from childhood. His father was a shipbuilding engineer and technical director of Baltiiskii plant, and his mother, an opera soloist at Mariinsky Theater. Having completed his secondary education in 1920, Vladimir Vladimirovich entered the mining faculty of the Mining Institute. At those years, such known scientists as N.S. Kurna- kov, N.I. Stepanov, N.P. Aseev, and K.F. Belogla- zov were among professors of this oldest institution of higher education. Skorchelletti’s labor activities started after he graduated from the institute in
