Kirpichnikov decided to become a biologist; how- ever, his to attempts to enter the Moscow University failed because of the biographical particulars. He became a non-credit student and successfully passed the exams for the first grade in 1928. Unfortunately, the authorities cancelled the institution of non-credit stu- dents; nonetheless, Kirpichnikov did not yield. He col- lected the signatures in behalf of his friends and him- self, went directly to the People s Commissar of Educa- tion, and succeeded in that they were took in for the second grade. Valentin Sergeevich noted that despite a pronounced totalitarianism, it was much easier to have an audience with a minister in those years than nowa- days.
