Samples of Latnenskoe carbonaceous clays containing 8–16% free carbon were assessed. Specimens of ramming mixes for blast-furnace tapping runners and ladle linings, scoops to handle nonferrous alloys, and light-weight concrete aggregates were prepared from such clays. It is recommended that commercial-scale tests be carried out.
