Dr. Polezhaev began to work at this Institute in the position of senior research fellow in the Laboratory of Mechanics of Development headed by Prof. Filatov; subsequently, he was scientiﬁc secretary of this institute, and in 1947 became the head of the laboratory initially called the Laboratory of Regeneration Problems and then, until 1975, the Labo- ratory of Experimental Animal Morphology.
