In the framework of the linear theory for the long waves occurring in a fluid with a density gradient, the paper concentrates on the field of wave disturbances generated by a barotropic tide in the vicinity of the Mid-Atlantic ridge. Dependences of the wave amplitudes and velocities on the stratification parameters, the angle of onrunning and the period of the barotropic tide have been obtained. A similar study for a model ridge relief of paraboloidal shape has been conducted in ref. 1.
