Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate Reactions 1680, p320 - 2 Dec 2017 Kidney dysfunction: 5 case reports In a retrospective cohort study, 5 men aged between 40 75 years were described, who developed kidney dysfunction during treatment with tenofovir disoproxil fumarate for HIV-1-infection [dosages, routes and time to reactions onsets not stated]. Patient 1: A 40-year-old man developed kidney dysfunction with creatinine level increased from 0.9 mg/dL to 1.6 mg/dL and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) decreased from 2 2 106 mL/min/1.73m to 53 mL/min/1.73m . He received tenofovir disoproxil fumarate for 663 days, along with lamivudine and lopinavir/ritonavir. His creatinine level decreased to 1.3 mg/dL and eGFR increased to 67 mL/min/1.73m after the discontinuation of the tenofovir disoproxil fumarate therapy. Patient 2: A 43-year-old man developed kidney dysfunction with creatinine level increased from 1.5 mg/dL to 1.9 mg/dL and eGFR decreased from 53 mL/min/1.73m2 to 42 mL/min/1.73m . He received tenofovir disoproxil fumarate for 869 days, along with lamivudine and efavirenz. His creatinine level decreased to 1.5 mg/dL and eGFR increased to 55 mL/min/1.73m after the discontinuation of the tenofovir disoproxil fumarate therapy. Patient 3: A 50-year-old man developed kidney dysfunction with creatinine level increased from 1.2 mg/dL to 1.8 mg/dL and eGFR decreased from 70 mL/min/1.73m to 42 mL/min/1.73m . He received tenofovir disoproxil fumarate for 530 days, days, along with lamivudine and nevirapine. His creatinine level decreased to 1.7 mg/dL and eGFR increased to 45 mL/min/1.73m after the discontinuation of the tenofovir disoproxil fumarate therapy. Patient 4: A 54-year-old man developed kidney dysfunction with creatinine level increased from 1.1 mg/dL to 1.9 mg/dL and eGFR decreased from 76 mL/min/1.73m to 39 mL/min/1.73m . He received tenofovir disoproxil fumarate for 311 days, days, along with lamivudine and raltegravir. His creatinine level decreased to 1.8 mg/dL and eGFR increased to 41 mL/min/1.73m after the discontinuation of the tenofovir disoproxil fumarate therapy. Patient 5: A 75-year-old man developed kidney dysfunction with creatinine level increased from 1.1 mg/dL to 1.9 mg/dL and eGFR decreased from 65 mL/min/1.73m to 33 mL/min/1.73m . He received tenofovir disoproxil fumarate for 738 days, along with lamivudine and lopinavir/ritonavir. His creatinine level increased to 2.2 mg/dL and eGFR decreased to 28 mL/min/1.73m after the discontinuation of the tenofovir disoproxil fumarate therapy.
