Technological Aspects of the Electrical-Discharge Machining of Small-Diameter Holes in a... A study is made of the effect of the operating regime in electrical-discharge machining (EDM) on the condition and defectiveness of the surfaces of “blind” small-diameter holes drilled in parts made of an oxide-carbide ceramic. The physical pattern that is characteristic of the formation of these surfaces is determined, the morphology of the damaged layer is analyzed, and the surface defects are described.
