Synthesis and electrochemical properties of Li (Ni0.56Co0.19Mn0.24Al0.01)1-yAlyO2 as cathode... Li(Ni0.56Co0.19Mn0.24Al0.01)1-yAlyO2(y = 0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06) positive electrode materials can be synthesized by carbonate co-precipitation process in air. The phase structure and morphology were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The LiNi0.5376Co0.1824Mn0.2304Al0.0496O2 (y = 0.04) cathode material had the best electrochemical performance. The material provided the reversible capacity of 174.9 mAhg−1 at 0.1 C, 115.9 mAhg−1 at 1 C between 2.75 and 4.4 V. In addition, it delivered a good cyclic performance under high cutoff voltages at the charge/discharge rate of 0.5 C (retaining 98.0% at a cutoff voltage 4.4 V and 76.6% at a cutoff voltage 4.5 V after 30 cycles). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were also conducted to further study the new composite cathode materials. Ionics Springer Journals
