Size Reduction and Recrystallization of Inorganic Powders Results of a study of the recrystallization of powder particles of Ni, Mo, W, Si, Ge, TiB2, ZrB2, TiC, ZrC, NbC, TiCx, ZrCx, NbCx, and TiN treated by vibrogrinding are reported. The characteristics of microplastic strain in the powder particles are determined and their implication in the process of recrystallization is discussed. Based on the results obtained, the Peierls – Nabarro stresses in borides, carbides, and nitrides of transition metals of subgroups IVa and Va are predicted.
