Some aspects in the manufacture of several types of products from a TsNIIM-developed silica glass-based structural material and its properties are discussed. The material is suitable for the fabrication of microwavetransparent inserts, electrical insulating plates and elements of intricate shape, refractories for induction metal heating and melting furnaces, toughening-furnace hearth segments, indicator plates, and extrusion-die crucibles for the fabrication of amorphous metal and alloy ribbons.
