ANNIVERSARIES Sergei Stepanovich Ivanchev (to His 75th Birthday) DOI: 10.1134/S1070427207110341 On December 1, 2007, Sergei Stepanovich Ivan- chev, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Zhurnal Prikladnoi Khimii (Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry), corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor, doctor of chemical science, Honored scientist and technologist of the Russian Federation, director of the St. Petersburg Branch of Boreskov Institute of Catalysis (Siberian Division, Russian Academy of Sciences), is 75. S.S. Ivanchev was born in Mukachevo, Transcar- pathia. In 1954, he graduated with excellence from the chemical faculty of Uzhgorod State University, and in 1957, finished his postgraduate education at the Chair of Physical Chemistry at Franko State University, Lvov. He early started his working life, combining education at the university with work as teacher of physics in an evening school.
